Become Catholic
Are you seeking to enter into full communion with the Catholic Church? Perhaps you are a Christian baptized in another faith tradition, someone from a different religion altogether, or a Catholic who needs the sacrament of Confirmation. No matter your circumstances, God is calling you to the fullness of truth and life found in Jesus Christ.
If you would like to learn more or take the next steps, please schedule a meeting with one of the chaplains.
-
The first step in answering this call is by entering the Order for Christian Initiation of Adults. OCIA is a period of discernment and growth along with instruction and preparation for becoming Catholic.
-
Typically, candidates begin OCIA at the beginning of the fall semester, in September, and enter the Catholic Church during the following Easter Vigil. However, depending on where candidates are at in their discernment, they can begin OCIA at the most opportune time for them.
-
OCIA is held every Sunday after the 11:30am Mass at St. Joseph’s Church for about nine months. Candidates are also expected to attend Sunday Mass each week.
